The objective consists in integrating to an existant digital printing chain, an image-capturing and inspection of flat products of great widths in a limited space device. The classical solution which consists in using one or several linear cameras isn’t viable because the shooting point is generally low.
We developed and produced WIM (Web Inspection Matrix), a system of continuous monitoring based on a multi-cameras tecnology which stimulates a large linear sensor. This device can in real time inspects wide widths of products in a limited space.
The compact and easy to implement WIM solution functions like a virtual linear camera, but with a compact size of a sensor CIS (Contact Image Sensor) and at a lower price than a CIS. Moreover, WIM offers a depth of field greater than a CIS.
WIM represents the ideal solution to integrate a vision system in a limited space on printing machines for large width, in particular for the packaging industry. WIM is an inspection and quality control system which responds to the dual challenge: high-speed and high resolution.
